Compare the cost
What traditional billing really costs your practice.
Have you noticed your incoming payments don’t match what you thought you earnt? The quoted fee is only one part of the cost.
This page shows where the rest of your money went.
Our fee is the COST, our completion rate (99.9%) and speed of payment is our VALUE.

Four outcomes
Every claim ends in one of four ways.
Paid promptly
You receive the income with no cost beyond the service fee.
The one claim outcome people think about, and the only time where the claim cost matches the fee.
The real costs of conventional billing processes hide in these outcomes.
Never lodged
The work never entered the billing system. The income is lost, and it appears in no billing report.
Paid late
You receive it eventually, but carry the delay.
Never paid
The work was billed, but the income is lost.
FreshClaim was built to fix these problems. You do not need to know how payments fail to see what they cost. The calculator below works from numbers any practice already has.

Enter what you bill and adjust the sliders. The FreshClaim column uses our measured result across more than 69,000 claims.
Your current arrangement
Include any software, minimum or per-claim charges as a percentage of billing.
Around 1 in 100 to 1 in 50 attendances are lost between the doctor and the billing workflow, or between the billing workflow and the claiming program, through transmission or transcription. They appear in no billing report.
Some billing services charge a flat fee of as much as $25 per rejection, whatever the reason.

Effective cost of billing: now, with FreshClaim.
Fees shown before GST and charged on the amount paid, for both columns. FreshClaim charges 2.85% + GST on ECLIPSE payments, nothing on a claim that is not paid, and nothing to investigate, correct and re-lodge a rejection. Rates for patient, hospital, TAC and WorkCover accounts are on the pricing page. Admin time is costed over a 48-week working year. The cost of income arriving late is not included.
Where the difference comes from
Why the FreshClaim column is smaller.
Each line in the calculator has a cause. FreshClaim was built to remove it.
Fee
2.85% + GST on what is paid. Nothing on a rejected claim, nothing for rejection management, no software, no minimum. The fee is the only cost.
Admin time
FreshClaim does the data entry, checking, pricing, lodgement, rejections, follow-up and reconciliation. Nothing is handed back. Your time is just the first 10 seconds to send us a claim. That’s hours of work a week you, or an office member, don’t have to do anymore.
Never lodged
Most billing services use tedious manual or electronic claim forms that take ages to fill. An equally slow process happens on the other side, so it is easy to accidentally miss the occasional claim in a long batch of work. In fact, around 1 in 60 to 70 claims get missed routinely in these workflows, and are impossible to locate. Our app and platform are in lock-step: once you tap send, it’s in, and doesn’t get back out except as a claim completion.
Never paid
Most billing software makes it hard to find rejected claims, diagnose the problem, find the fix, and re-lodge. So much so, truly difficult work is often abandoned due to excessive costs for claim recovery. FreshClaim is engineered to prevent failures first, and fix any rejections faster and more efficiently. Across more than 69,000 claims, 99.9% have been paid, with a median of about 64 hours from submission to payment.
Before building FreshClaim, our founder audited his own inpatient billing claim by claim and found 5 to 6 percent of submitted claims unpaid despite using a billing service. Doctors who have since moved to FreshClaim report similar figures, some as high as 8 percent. FreshClaim figures are our internal claim-payment results; individual practice results will vary.
Six questions
Put the same numbers to any provider, including us.
A quoted percentage isn’t your real billing cost.
- 1Did every claim make it into the billing system?
- 2What percentage of submitted claims is ultimately paid?
- 3Does the biller investigate, correct and re-lodge a rejected claim?
- 4Is that charged separately?
- 5Which tasks will I still have to perform?
- 6How much is currently sitting in aged debt?
